Satisfying and sleepy Saturday

Today was the perfect day for catching up on rest. Not that I really needed to, but I pretty much did nothing, and it felt great.  It was one of those gray, almost rainy days, with temperatures in the 40’s. Warm enough to let the fire in the wood stove go out for a while. Bruce called at 9 a.m. to say he was coming home on the 11:00 boat, a few hours earlier than originally planned.  I decided that I would soak up my last hours of solitude by reading my book. I could head into the studio in the afternoon, right?  Well, I didn’t. After lunch, both of us hit the couch for more reading and naps, happy to be together in our companionable silence. A late afternoon walk,  a mushroom omelet for dinner, and a movie from Netflix made for the perfect end to a pretty easy day.

A perfect way to spend a Saturday. I think we spend way too much time counting our hours of productivity and not enough of nuturing ourselves.

I agree. Sounds like a great day to me. We did pretty much the same, but went to the Alamo to see “The King’s Speech.” What a great movie.

I sure loved that movie! I saw it once in Baltimore, and then last week with mom at Reel Pizza. She loved it too.
      Funny weather today.

Aren’t you supposed to be resting?

Sorry, Nancy. I couldn’t resist one of those “motherly” comments. It is such a huge relief to know that you are back home so soon after your surgery AND already blogging. I have been thinking of you every day. Rest up as much as you can. I think you’ll be back to all the normal craziness of everyday life sooner than you can imagine!

      • I’ll take all the motherly comments I can get! Clearly I do need a reminder to rest; been doing that all day and am ready to move on but will continue keeping a low profile until my body tells me it’s ready, which hasn’t happened yet. 4 days post-op and counting!
