One day at a time

So, the wedding was great and now that it’s over my life should be getting back to normal. But my mother is still in the hospital, and when I didn’t go off island to see her today she called in tears at 5 p.m. asking me where I was. She didn’t remember that I told her yesterday, when I was there, that I had to stay home today to get some work done. My plans to finish up the work tomorrow have now become plans to see her in the afternoon. She is scheduled to be discharged on Tuesday if all goes well. Two weeks in the hospital has left her a little more confused. I think she’ll be making much better progress when she is back in her own assisted living apartment. I think I’ll be making better progress in the studio when she is back in her assisted living apartment, among the wonderful staff who are also her friends. (I have a studio?)

Meanwhile here is a most excellent little mushroom that was growing, before the wedding, in the front yard of Mom’s little house on Islesford. It’s so perfect it looks fake.

And here are some clouds, from last week, that are real but look fake.

Right now, normal seems fake.

Thanks Zsash. I’ll see her today, and I’ll be sure to tell her. Steve and I have been Skyping between her hospital room and his office. He’s been as much help as possible. Saw her a lot during the wedding weekend. But he has a lot on his plate now too.
      Miss you. xoxo

Barbara, heartfelt wishes for your mother’s return to better health and her own familiar home. Such an emotional time for all of you. Be sure to find a little time for yourself. It will restore you in a way nothing else can.

Thanks for the support LeAnn. Time to myself is very restorative. And, no matter what goes on, I am leaving on Friday to take a 4 day workshop from Celie Fago in Vermont. The timing to get Mom resettled in her apartment corresponds with my need to get away. It will all work out. I was just at a low point last night.

Thanks Barbara, that is really sweet of you. There are some good people at the hospital who are helping to make it all work out for her to go home tomorrow.

Barbara, I love your photos and I’m sure you are right about your mother will do much better in her own home with familiar faces, friends and beautiful things. If you think of anything I can do to help, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Hard spells sure suck, but we all go through them. I can’t wait to see you!! This year I won’t get lost on my way to Henry and Donna’s. Any idea of when you will get there? Are you working on Friday first?
      Good luck tomorrow. xoxo

yes, i do have to work, so i’ll be leaving ny at 3, stopping for a quick food pickup at my house (it’s right on the way) and then making my way up….i’m guessing i’ll be there around 8…kinda late for dinner…do you want me to eat on the way and then we’ll do sat, sun and mon dinners at the house?
        when will you get there?

Wasn’t it a beautiful day? Things will get back to normal soon. Mom will go home tomorrow. It’s all set up. It will be nice to be there with her when she does. It has been hard to leave her at the hospital, knowing she had a whole confusing night ahead. That’s the drawback to island living!

    Hi Barbara:
Hope your show in Greenwich was a success. I was at your show last year and I receive so many compliments on the gorgeous stone necklace I purchased from you. I went to another trunk show held by Wendy Black Nasta in Middletown. She has two open houses a year and I bought myself a wonderful pair if amethyst earrings.
    Happy Holidays.
