New beads from SueBeads

I love getting new beads from Sue Kennedy’s Etsy shop. Her lampworked beads with dots of silver are one of my favorites. (Thanks Sue for the surprise extra pair of beads you added to my order!) I’m a pretty regular reader of her blog, and when she mentions new work I go straight to her shop to check it out.

I especially like how her etched (frosted) clear glass beads combine with the German lampworked beads I recently purchased from Beadin’ Path in Freeport, Maine.

A reminder:  Today is “Small Business Saturday.”  This holiday season let’s all do our part to shop small businesses as often as possible. Consider a craft fair, your local hardware store, the art gallery in town, the florist, the independent book store, or a small business commerce site on the Internet.

Where do you recommend shopping in your town?

      Boogie on down to Bucksport!
Hi Susan. I stopped at McGrath’s this morning in N.E. but they didn’t have the calendars I was looking for. Next stop Sherman’s in B.H. and I’ll go back since I spent enough to finish out my frequent shopper card to get 25% off next time. Yee ha!
You’ve always been a great supporter of local businesses and artisans. Are you coming to B.H. on Friday?

I really like Sue’s beads. I think she is also having a discount on her Etsy site for this week. (Just in case you are doing any therapeutic shopping tomorrow.)
I’ve had those frosted corkscrew beads for a year or so, and never could decide how to use them. It was only after I stopped trying to put them at the bottom of the necklace, and saw Sue’s beads, that I knew what I wanted to try.
Our Thanksgiving was great except that I was on the losing Trivial Pursuit team after dinner! I hope yours was a wonderful Thanksgiving and that the trip was an easy one.

Hey Sue, you know I love your beads! I’m glad Holly went to your shop, too. I hope the Virtual Craft Show goes well for you. Turkey day was great. Now the final push for me to get things finished up for a craft fair on Friday and Saturday. The earrings I make with your beads always go quickly!

I am a great supporters of local business and artisans..and especially of you, but I don’t think I’ll be making the Bar Harbor scene this year.I promised Louise Bourne, painter friend from Blue Hill, to go to her show the next week-end, and I only trust myself to got to one event!!! I met Louise thru Heliker-LaHotan 2 years ago, and I love her work. I will definitely be in touch with you when I figure out what to get for my friend in Cape May. She loved those epoxy post earrings.
And…Bport had a great Small Business Saturday…even bigger than Black Friday! xoxoS

I’ll miss seeing you. The Louise Bourne show sounds great, and Bucksport sounds like it was the place to be on Saturday. If only I didn’t have to fit everything into the winter boat schedule. (But you know island living is still worth those limitations!)
Is Chris coming out to the island (mine or yours) anytime soon? Is Peter all settled in yet?

Will miss seeing you too. We should do lunch in Smellsworth sometime when you’re on this side. I don’t think Chris plans plans a trip to the island. Peter is pretty much settled in and seems very happy. We had a nice Tgiving, and he was here Sat. night for dinner with Barb Stainton…we had a fun scrabble game, and we got to load him down with plants for his apt. when he left(plus food). He has bought new cross country skis(office ppl. ski on lunch hour on the 15 surrounding acres..he was psyched about that. He also uses a gov’t car when he’s in the field…which will be a lot of the time. Amazing..we are still shaking our heads and wondering how this miracle happened! xoxo

Where is Peter working? (I forgot) It is so cool that he landed nearby. Lunch in Smellsworth sounds great. I’ll be in touch.
