I celebrated the first day of spring with a long walk this morning and a long walk this afternoon. In between, I put together some earrings with some of the patinated pieces I finished waxing yesterday. (The weather was so nice, I decided to go out rather than take time to take additional photos for listing these on my Etsy site. Maybe tomorrow morning…)

Earrings below from a few days ago. No patina pieces, but a pair of the cool enameled fluted bead caps made by Sue Kennedy at SueBeads. The Über handy, Über useful enameled head pins are also made by Sue.

Thanks Patti. It’s hard for me to decide on one favorite. My favorite idea to pursue is to make more of my own copper and bronze beads and patina them. I can tell you that in this batch, the russet red is my favorite color. There are so many directions to take, this was a fun way to start.

Thanks Ruth! Nice to have you stop by! Are the lilacs out early this year? I guess this is still too early, but I wouldn’t be surprised to hear they are budding. Everything is early in Maine. Which means crocus flowers are starting to open up in the morning. Daffodil shoots are showing promise. We are usually quite far behind you, but this is early stuff for us!

i’m more likely to pop in for a half hour if i’m in the MIDDLE of something, so i should probably take some time to start a FEW things…then there will be half-finished projects to pop in and work on for a stretch of time…

Thanks for turning me on to Miss Ficklemedia’s patina tutorial and recipes, Barb. They have become the backbone of my new copper line. I love the laurel green best of all, but the russet red is a close second. I also dig the peacock blue. Yummy!!

Hi Wendy! Isn’t it fun to use those with copper clay? I love knowing that you use them too. Now I don’t wait with fingers crossed hoping for interesting patina when the copper and bronze pieces come out of the kiln. They get brushed and thrown in the tumbler so they’re ready for Shannon’s patinas. I haven’t tried the laurel green yet, except for mixing it with some blue. The red is still my favorite.
